We're Engaged!!!! Now What???

As we move rapidly to the New Year, I am sure there are many blushing brides-to-be out there.  Well as you come down from your cloudy flight, it is time to figure out what to next. We have to set the date, pick the colors, figure out our guest count, what to eat and what to drink. Not to mention, flowers, bridal party attire and oh wait.......The DRESS. You have to pick the right  dress.  As you list all the things that you must do to make your day special, you still have to function in everyday life. So where does this lead you??
Well there are many different paths you can take. You can DIY ( Do it Yourself), hire a planner to assist you every step of the way,  consult with a planner for vendor research or have a planner just to handle your special event day. No matter what route you take, a planner is your best friend and can be the saving grace to your sanity.

There are many rules to follow but the most important rule.....Rule number have to know what you want.  Establish a budget. You and your fiance must be on the same page when it comes to planning and spending. If you should decide to hire a planner, then you have to trust that your planner has your best interest at heart. Planners can make your life easier when it comes to planning any event. This is our business and we take our business to heart.  It is our goal to make your day the most special event that can be remembered. So as you sit down and start creating your list of to-do's , strongly consider hiring a planner. It is money well spent and sanity well saved. Stay tuned for weekly updates on planning tips. As we move into the New Year and wedding season for 2012, the focus will  be on how to make your day special.

Can Shoes Make or Break You???

So anybody that knows me, knows I love shoes.  Shoes and purses, purses and shoes. What is a girl to do?? To me, shoes can define you and your personality. They can be funky and stylish, or  calm and conservative. There are shoes for every event. Shoes for work, shoes for play, shoes for partying and shoes for relaxing.  Shoes for weddings have their own place as well and I think that shoes can define your wedding ceremony and reception. From the classy styles, to the conservative styles, depending on the tone of your wedding, your shoes must be in line with the tempo of your wedding. If you want to add a bit a flare, have your wedding party wear different color shoes than the decided  Wedding colors. Now the bride must always "stand out", so for a stand out look add a splash of color to your bridal gown by implementing a shoe that is the same color as your wedding color. So to answer the question
"Can Shoes Make or Break You"??......Yes.  Choose your style of shoe wisely. Let it define your personal style and add flare to your special day.

What About Cupcakes???

So what about Cupcakes??  Cupcakes are personal and very tasty. From Bridal Showers, to Baby Showers, Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties and any other event where cake is a mainstay,  cupcakes are the new "go-to" thing .  They come in so many flavors ( Red Velvet being my favorite), and fit all occasions.  As an Event Planner, I always have to consider budgets and cupcakes are the way to go. The cost is significantly less than a designed cake and at the end of any event, you are more likely to have cake leftovers, more so than cupcake leftovers. If you are a budget conscious bride, or just budget conscious for your next event,  then consider cupcakes for your event.  Cakes are traditional and always beautiful.  There are those that like to maintain tradition, but there are  those that want to incorporate a new twist to  their event.   Let's face it.....Cupcakes are the new "hip" twist.

So I say " Let Them Eat Cupcakes!!"

Thanks to the ladies at "Cupcake Ladies" here in the Quad Cities. By far the best tasting cupcakes out there.

Pink and Green Everywhere!!

I was blessed this past weekend to give back to the community in a Fashion Show sponsored by my Sorority Sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Pink and Green was everywhere and it was a beautiful scene. I was privileged to be able to add my touch to the gift table and the banquet tables. Another great event in the books.

My first attempt at creating an inspiration board

This is my first inspiration board and it is based of of my favorite color. The color purple represents so many things. Royalty comes first in my mind, but the ability to blend different shades of purple and create a beautiful color palette is beyond explanation.  I will always cherish "my first inspiration board' as it is the catalyst for all my other creations.

I feel a little blue.....

I feel that the color blue is such a beautiful color for Winter Weddings. When I designed this board, my feelings were towards the Winter months and I envisioned snow and the bride arriving to her venue with a beautiful blue velvet cape. I have always loved the idea of winter weddings.

How about a little "Black and Yellow"???

Such a great color palette for Spring.  More to come......

Pink and Black Inspiration

I like to create inspiration boards for my clients, so they can see their color choices in a different view besides color swatches. I think inspiration boards are vital to the planning process of any events.

Check out this inspiration board that I created with the color brown.
